Abstract:This report builds on the discussion in Framework for Assessing Autonomy Research (ARL-TR-10064, Mar 2025) and proposes a method by which basic research in autonomy can be assessed for its potential application to support U.S. Army missions. The method was demonstrated in experiments conducted by the Distributed and Collaborative Intelligent Systems and Technology Collaborative Research Alliance in April 2026, and that set of experiments is described here to illustrate the method.
