Abstract:Humans vary greatly in their abilities, with some people better suited for certain tasks than others. Individuals have their own strengths and weaknesses and can vary in their optimal performance levels across time, experiences, and situations. Such inter- and intraindividual variability provides a powerful means to explore fundamental questions about the nature of cognitive processes and human performance while offering insights for improving human performance in demanding situations. Research tasks were aimed at overcoming several scientific and pragmatic issues that have hindered the study of individual differences by leveraging previous collaborative efforts and developing new methodological approaches and resources.
