Abstract:

This report provides an update on research conducted January–May 2022 at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and on a pilot scale coating line at Kodak on roll-to-roll two-dimensional polymer (2DP) coatings and films. Highlights include the following: detailed studies on how the rheology of 2DP and dummy solutions change with water content, evaluation of doctor-bladed 2DP coating laydown and drying at varying water content, production of Ossila slot-extrusion die coatings of 2DP at varying relative humidity, the results of a large-scale coating trial using a pilot scale line where coating windows were established using dummy solutions and 2DP film sections as long as 30 ft and 9.5 inches wide were produced, and the evaluation of 2DP coatings made on various roll-to-roll support materials commonly used in industry
