Abstract:The experimental procedures detailed herein delineate a comprehensive methodology for the preparation and assembly of hot isostatic pressing (HIP) cans. The procedure encompasses detailed steps from the acquisition of materials (including stainless steel tubing, end caps, stems, and other essential components) to the fabrication and sealing of the cans. Noteworthy equipment (e.g., the vessel leak checker, stem crimping vise, bakeout furnace, and argon atmosphere glovebox) play pivotal roles in ensuring the integrity and quality of the HIP cans. Welding and sealing procedures demand precision and attention to detail to ensure hermetic sealing of the vessels. Subsequent bakeout processes involve controlled heating and vacuum conditions to remove contaminants and moisture effectively. Stem crimping and sealing procedures culminate in the final closure of the vessels, safeguarding the encapsulated materials for subsequent processing steps.
